The formalities before a fight.
-George Bellows

This lithograph is also titled Introducing the Champion. It is yet another of the boxing lithographs that display Bellows' consuming interest in every aspect of the bouts. Here the champion enthusiastically receives the cheers of the crowd. In the background, a young contender gets some last minute advice. He is relegated to the background physically as well as emotionally.
