In Counted Out, First Stone Bellows created a dramatic composition marked by strong and evocative horizontal and vertical elements. The victor stands firm and erect in the corner of the ring. Beneath him the referee counts the downed fighter out. One elevated arm echoes the vertical position of the victor, while his lowered hand mimicks the limp, collapsed form of the loser.
