An American Pulse:
Nudes

This series of lithographs by George Bellows recalls the long tradition of nudes in the practice and study of art. The artist completed his first series of nudes in 1916-17 and later returned to the subject in works dated 1923-24. These academic studies allowed the artist to experiment with different lithographic effects.
