This lithographic is based upon a much earlier drawing that Bellows entitled I Remember Being Initiated Into the Frat. As a freshman at Ohio State University, Bellows was passed over by the Beta Theta Pi fraternity only to be invited to join the following year, probably due to his growing prowess as an athlete. This riotous lithographic displays the various forms of hazing that an initiate was forced to endure.
