"La Rumorosa/Post and Lintel"

February 18-20
8:00 p.m., February 18 and 19
6:00 p.m., February 20
James S. Copley Auditorium

McCaleb Dance presents the San Diego premiere of La Rumorosa, choreographed by Nancy McCaleb in collaboration with the company dancers. La Rumorosa ("The Whispering One") is a haunting and powerful dance inspired by the rugged landscape between the Mexican border towns of Tecate and Mexicali.

The company is also presenting the premiere of Post and Lintel, choreographed by company associate artistic director, Eric Geiger. Based on the concepts of the oldest form of structure and support, Post and Lintel will be performed to a commissioned score by Morris Palter, a member of NOISE and the percussion group "red fish blue fish."

"McCaleb's skillfully crafted, thoughtful, collaborative work epitomizes the kind of altogether special dance we'd like to see more of."
-Gus Solomons, Jr., dance reviewer for The New York Times, The Village Voice, and Dance Magazine

The creation of La Rumorosa was made possible in part by funding received from the California DanceMaker Grants, a program funded by The James Irvine Foundation and adminstered by Dance/USA.

This project was also supported in part by an award from the National Endowment for the Arts, which believes that a great nation deserves great art.
