Create a multi-layered miniature work of art using traditional painting colors and materials inspired by the centuries-old art of Indian miniature painting in Temple, Palace, Mosque. This three hour workshop, led by Lucy Eron, Museum Educator,  will begin with a tour of the exhibition for inspiration.

The small Himalayan kingdom of Bhutan is home to the most intact and vital Buddhist art tradition in the world. In this lecture, John Johnston, Coates-Cowden-Brown Curator of Asian Art at the San Antonio Museum of Art, will discuss the development of Buddhist art in Bhutan and will discuss the role Buddhist images play in monastic rituals.

Teen Portfolio Development

This studio will assist teens in the development of their entrance portfolio for submission to fine arts colleges while expanding foundational art making experience.  Teen summer studios are week-long, half-day classes taught by visiting artists, art educators, and community members.

This program is designed for students ages 13 through 19. 

From Press to Print: Exploring Printmaking

 In this studio, teens will discover exciting ways to produce original art in multiples by exploring a variety of printmaking techniques, from relief printing to screenprinting.  Teen summer studios are week-long, half-day classes taught by visiting artists, art educators, and community members.

This program is designed for students ages 13 through 19.
