UCSD Professor, Ross Frank, will introduce this genre of Plains Indian art that began in the 1860s and continues to evolve today. He will explain how to understand the narratives that ledger drawings and provide a brief history of ledger art. In addition, Frank will give additional context for understanding the unique exhibit, Alternative Accounts, curated by 15 students as a part of a UCSD course. The movement spanned a brief four decades, from 1830-70, during the Romantic period of the 19th century.
