Yoga at the Museum

Hibben Gallery

Experience art in context during Yoga at the Museum. Strengthen your mind and body as you practice yoga in Museum galleries and meditate on the art around you. Instructor Amy Pachowicz will offer one six-week course ending today and another four-week course beginning April 1. Classes are limited to 15 people and can be purchased individually or as a series.

The task of a Renaissance and Baroque portrait painter was not simply to capture the sitter's likeness but to also portray their social standing and status. From head to toe details of dress were documented by artists and conveyed a wealth of information.

Lecture: Alternative Accounts

How much do you know about Native American Ledger art? UCSD Professor, Ross Frank, will introduce this genre of Plains Indian art that began in the 1860s and continues to evolve today. He will explain how to understand the narratives that ledger drawings and provide a brief history of ledger art.  In addition, Frank will give additional context for understanding the unique exhibit, Alternative Accounts, curated by 15 students as a part of a UCSD course.  A tour of the exhibit will follow.
