About Jennifer Steinkamp
Jennifer Steinkamp is an installation artist who works with video and new media in order to explore ideas about architectural space, motion, and perception.
Steinkamp is “the millennial American heir to our two great flower painters, Georgia O’Keeffe… and Andy Warhol," says the Los Angeles Times. A pioneer and one of the most accomplished artists working in digital media today, she is internationally recognized for her breathtaking installations of computer generated projected imagery. Locally, Madame Curie, her seven-channel, synchronized floral projection, was recently shown at the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego. Juxtaposing the organic and inorganic, the real and unreal, Steinkamp's works result in a magnificent but uncanny experience that reflects upon the increasing synthesis of our real and virtual worlds.
