Thursday Night Jazz: Danny Green

Thursday, 6:00 p.m. - 7:45 p.m.

During the final concert of Danny Green's residency, the Danny Green Trio and special guest  Peter Sprague will perform Latin and Brazilian inspired compositions. Green and guitarist/composer Sprague, began collaborating together in 2009 and have since collaborated on several projects. Sprague has previously performed with Chick Corea, Hubert Laws, and David Benoit, among others, and has been featured in hundredes of albums. “Peter is one of San Diego's jazz communites great treasures,” says Green.

Explore the expressive potential of color through layered line drawings inspired by works on view in the Museum's Spanish art galleries. This informal drawing workshop gives adult and teen participants the opportunity to draw from objects in the collection while being guided by a trained drawing instructor.

Modern and contemporary photography will be discussed by Jennifer DeCarlo, Director of jdc Fine Art, and Dr. Amy Galpin, Associate Curator, Art of the Americas/ From their different views as a gallery owner and a museum curator, DeCarlo and Galpin will talk about figurative art created by some of the most important photographers from Guatemala, Mexico, and Brazil.

Family Drop-In days: Exploring Animals in Art

Sculpting Wire Wildlife

Sunday, 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.
The Studio

Designed for children and adults to do together, Family Drop-In Days include art projects inspired by the Museum's Permanent Collection; family-friendly, docent-led tours; and art-focused games to play in the galleries. Activities are enjoyable for guests of all ages and skill levels, and center around a theme. Art projects will change weekly and themes change monthly.

Recommended for children ages 6-12.
