Kathryn Kanjo, Chief Curator, Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego, will consider how even the most innovative of contemporary forms can be understood and described through the visual language of art history. Looking at works in the Museum's Collection, Kanjo will apply formal description, analyze subject matter, and infer meaning to comprehend better the artist's intent.

Celebrating the importance of museums, International Museum Day is hosted worldwide by museums involved in the International Council of Museums and the Association of Art Museum Directors.

To celebrate, the Museum will offer free admission, extended hours (from noon - 7:00 p.m.), and activities throughout the day including:

This annual benefit will be held in the spectacular home of retired Ambassador Richard and Kay Matheron, Villa Tyto Alba, which was designed by acclaimed San Diego archited Norm Applebaum. Wine and appetizers will be served, along with a presentation by Norm Applebaum and Kay and Richard Matheron. All proceeds benefit the Education Department at the Museum.
