One element of John Marciari’s work on a catalogue of Italian, Spanish, and French Paintings before 1850 from the Museum's Permanent Collection, is the technical study, cleaning, and restoration of paintings, most of which is undertaken with the Balboa Art Conservation Center. This lecture will examine some of the conservation work undertaken in recent years, outlining a number of the discoveries and decisions made during the treatments.
