Suprise yourself. Use found objects to create a playful, mixed-media, up-cycled sculpture. Cut-up and re-assemble stuffed animals to create a bio-morphic sculptural assemblage, which can then be painted to unify the form. This workshop is led by artist Amy Mayfield and takes inspiration from Louise Nevelson's Night Presence II and other abstract sculptures found in the Museum's May S. Marcy Sculpture Court & Garden.
Nevelson's early artistic practices parallel those demonstrated in this workshop. Early in her career, she created reliefs assembling found objects, which were then painted with a single unifying color. Later on, she began translating these reliefs into freestanding sculptures such as Night Presence II.
