Create a hand painted scarf using centuries-old techniques inspired by works on view in the Museum's Art of East Asia installation. Led by Museum Educator, Lucy Holland, this workshop involves instruction in mixing colorful dyes, using water-based resist design techniques, applying salt for unique textures, and setting dyes using a fixative bath. Create your own one-of-a-kind scarf to take home, or pick up one of Lucy's scarves from The Museum Store—a perfect Mother's Day gift or activity.
The Second Saturday Workshop Series is an adult program that explores exhibitions and installations at the Museum. Each begins with a tour of the related exhibition, followed by a fine art workshop. | View full workshop schedule
