Thursday Night Jazz will premiere with a performance of the Danny Green Trio's recent work and compositions from their 2012 album A Thousand Ways Home. Incorporating Brazilian, Latin, jazz, and classical influences, their most recent album has received critical acclaim, on both a local and national level. “What I love about the jazz piano trio format,” says Green, “is that it has all the components necessary to create a rich and full sound, and at the same time, its size allows for truly meaningful musical communication between each musician."
The Museum has selected three nationally recognized musicians: Danny Green, Joshua White, and Mark Dresser for the Jazz Residency Project. During their residencies, each musician will explore a single topic or theme critical to their work over the course of three concerts. Each concert includes a unique repertoire and ensemble. Danny will perform three concerts on June 6, June 13, and June 20.
The Danny Green Trio is:
Danny Green – Piano
Justin Grinnell – Bass
Julien Cantelm - Drums
On these Thursday evenings, the galleries will be open until 9:00 p.m. Snacks and beverages will be available from a no-host cash bar 5:00-9:00 p.m.
