The Danny Green Trio and special guest Derek Cannon, will perform works by some of their favorite jazz composers including: Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, Chico Pinheiro, and Wayne Shorter. Having played alongside one another several times over the last 10 years, this will be the first collaborative concert between Green and Cannon. Cannon has previously performed with Natalie Cole, Clark Terry, and The Temptations, among others, and is the co-chair of the music department at Grossmont Community College. “Derek has a beautiful sound on the trumpet and his energetic personality shines through in his playing,” remarks Green.
The Museum has selected three nationally recognized musicians: Danny Green, Joshua White, and Mark Dresser for the Jazz Residency Project. During their residencies, each musician will explore a single topic or theme critical to their work over the course of three concerts. Each concert includes a unique repertoire and ensemble. Danny will perform three concerts on June 6, June 13, and June 20.
