2008 Summer Camps

Increase your child’s creativity in a stimulating and engaging environment at SDMA’s week-long Museum Art School summer camps. Select from the many art-making themes, each of which has been designed by an artist/educator to teach children how to express themselves creatively and with confidence. Individual attention and encouragement is vital to the program, and mutual respect and support is developed in each class. Each week ends with an exhibition of students’ work to which parents are invited.

Participants will visit special SDMA exhibitions, including George O’Keeffe and the Women of the Stieglitz Circle and Inside the Wave, as well as exhibitions of SDMA’s renowned collection of American, Asian, and European art.

Enrollment is limited to 20 students per camp and is accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. All camps are staffed by a professional artist-educator and trained counselors in addition to young adult volunteer interns. Hours are from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and the cost per camp is $215 for museum members and $245 for others.

Any withdrawals made less than one week before the start of the camp will be refunded at 50% of the registration fee. Withdrawals made after the course has started will not be refunded. The Museum Art School will be offering a limited number of youth scholarships for summer 2008 camps. For more information, please contact the Museum Art School at (619) 231-1996 or education@sdmart.org.
