 Education and Public Programs

The San Diego Museum of Art's education department is committed to reaching out into the community in order to make the Museum accessible to anyone who wants to learn about its collections and exhibitions and to understand and participate in the creative process. We serve children, adults, educators, and families in the San Diego area through educational and interpretive programs and performances in the Museum's galleries, classrooms, and auditorium, and through outreach programs in the community.

Please click the links below to begin exploring our many offerings.

We are eager to meet your needs and assist you in making the most of your educational experience. Please feel free to call the education department if you have any questions. Our office is open weekdays, 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and can be reached at (619) 231-1996 or education@sdmart.org. We look forward to seeing you at SDMA.

Anyone interested in scheduling a school or group tour with a museum docent should also call (619) 231-1996, or fax the education department at (619) 231-7038.

The San Diego Museum of Art's education programs are supported in part by The California Arts Council, the William Randolph Hearst Endowment for Education Programs at the San Diego Museum of Art, the County of San Diego's Community Enhancement Fund, and the City of San Diego Commission for Arts and Culture.

Selected educator programs are made possible in part by a grant from the Washington Mutual Foundation.

Spanish language programming is made possible in part by generous contributions from the Gerald T. and Inez Grant Parker Foundation and The James Irvine Foundation.
