Estate Planning 101
Estate Planning 101 is a series of free workshops taking place on Tuesday and Thursday, June 3, 5, 10, and 12 at The San Diego Museum of Art. Hosted by Marguerite Lorenz, CTFA, CLPF, who has served as Professional Trustee and Executor for over ten years, these workshops include presentations (listed below) on topics every adult needs to know. All sessions begin at 9:00 a.m. and end by 12:00 p.m.

Class 1. Your Quality of Life

Class 2. Advanced Health Care Directive & Conservatorship
What is your Agent for Health Care expected to do? What about the Power of Attorney? When? What is a Conservatorship and how do you avoid needing this?
Class 3. Estate Planning Basics
Learn more about creating the plan that is best for you and your family. How can you help your attorney create an effective estate plan? What does your attorney need to know?
Class 4. Advanced Estate Planning
This session will highlight concepts and possibilities beyond the four basic documents including “What’s the plan if you don’t have a plan?”
Class 5. Charitable Giving and the Benefits
Did you know that you can use the equity in your home AND get tax benefits? What gifts qualify for tax deductions? Learn about making the most of your gifts.
Class 6. Transferring the Wealth
How do distributions to beneficiaries really work? How do you make sure that your retirement accounts don’t end up in probate court? When you understand more about your assets, you make better choices.
Class 7. Serving as Trustee
Are you the Trustee of a trust? What are your duties & responsibilities? What is your Successor Trustee’s job? What are your choices in terms of who may serve as your Successor? The documents are just the beginning…
Class 8. It’s Your Life and Your Plan
What’s next? Have fun reviewing all you have learned throughout this workshop series and get great tips on protecting you and your loved ones.
