In October 2004 the State of California implemented a new law entitled the Nonprofit Integrity Act
(Senate Bill 1262). The bill went into effect January 1, 2005. The purpose of this new legislation
is to minimize the potential for accounting abuses within, and to provide operational oversight of,
the State's charitable entities.
As a public benefit corporation registered with the Secretary of State of the State of California
with a 501c3 IRS tax status, the Nonprofit Integrity Act applies to the San Diego Museum of Art,
and the Museum intends to fully comply with its provisions. Accordingly, the Museum's audited
financial statements and 990 tax filings for the past three fiscal years (July 1 to June 30) are
available to the public and can be accessed by contacting the Museum's chief financial officer,
John Paterniti Jr., at (619) 696-1910 or by fax at (619) 233-8224, or by e-mail at
