Toulouse-Lautrec (1864-1901) lived during the height of what have been called "the banquet years" of Paris - the fat years of leisure when the city and inhabitants shook off the lingering vestiges of the Empire's rituals and took up ways of behaving, thinking, playing and perceiving that begot the twentieth century before its time. In this section you will find discussions of some of the people and places which inspired Toulouse-Lautrec as well as bibliographies and a section devoted to printmaking which includes a glossary of commonly-used terms. |
