Other descriptions and connections in fiction:

One of Lautrec's depictions of Jane Avril is said to be the inspiration for Jacques Emile-Blanche's heroine Rosemary in his novel Aymeris.

The sixteen-year-old who would soon become La Goulue worked at a laundry in Rue de la Goutte d'Or, which is described by Zola in his novel about alchoholism in the working class, L'Assommoir.
