The Gallery: Cocktails and Rock 'n' Roll Photographs
The Gallery saw Elton John levitate, John Lennon in love, and Tina Turner shake it at a private afterhours party for MoPA’s stunning exhibition of rock n’ roll photographs curated by rock legend and accomplished photographer Graham Nash.
As part of The Gallery’s continuing effort to bring its members the city’s unique cultural offerings, we visited the Museum of Photographic Arts in Balboa Park for a private tour of Taking Aim: Unforgettable Rock ‘n’ Roll Photographs Selected by Graham Nash.
The photographs expressed Nash’s view on the evolution of rock ‘n’ roll music, and depicted stunning images ranging from live stage performances by Jimi Hendrix to intimate, behind-the-scenes moments of Johnny Cash and June Carter, Yoko Ono and John Lennon, Janis Joplin and others.
The magicians at Alchemy provided the craft cocktails and farm-to-table hors d’oeuvres including the night’s signature drink, Bourbon & Bells.
Gallery members also experienced a special VIP behind-the-scenes tour of MoPA’s vault where they learned about the fine art of making a photograph.
