The Summer Salon Series 2010

In the summer of 2010, The San Diego Museum of Art and Agitprop proudly co-presented this summer-long program of contemporary artists' performances, talks, demos and workshops.

Inspired by the newly opened exhibition of Toulouse-Lautrec and his participation in the Salon des Indépendants, the Museum presented our version of the Salon, a place for intellectuals, creatives, and those interested in the art to meet, discuss ideas, and engage with artistic performances. In the spirit of the Salon des Indépendants, the Museum’s Salon featured emerging contemporary artists from Southern California.

Every Thursday evening throughout the summer, contemporary artists were performing and presenting their works of art inside and outside the Museum.  Visitors were invited to explore the works of living artists, participate in hands-on art making activities, enjoy a cocktail, and view the Museum's  exhibitions and collections.
