Summer at the Museum
This summer the Museum introduces extended hours and three new programs: jazz, films, and Summer Break.
Thursday Night Jazz
Select Thursdays, 5:00 - 9:00 p.m.*
Free after admission
Three nationally recognized artists have been granted jazz residencies at the Museum to explore a single theme or idea over the course of three concerts. During these concerts, the galleries will remain open and snacks and beverages will be available from a no-host bar in the Rotunda.

* During Thursdays when concerts occur, Museum galleries will be open from 10:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. Each concert will run around two hours. View the Museum calendar for specific dates, times, and locations of Thursday evening concerts.
Film in the Garden

Sculpture Garden, Free
Based on the popular and long-running summer program, Screen on the Green, the Museum presents three films in the garden this summer.
August 1 - 10, The San Diego Museum of Art
Summer Break, the Museum's newest contemporary art series features 10 consecutive days of happenings, onsite and offsite, including lectures, video screenings, workshops, performances, readings, and concerts. The series theme, double portraits, takes inspiration from the Museum's summer exhibition Arnold Newman: Masterclass and will also involve a series of interventions into the Museum's Permanent Collection.

The Museum Art School
Week-long, half-day camps and studios are led by artist instructors and will include art activities that explore a variety of media and trips to the Museum to view summer exhibitions. View full schedule
