DESCRIPTION:Friday\, June 21\n10:00 a.m.\nJames S. Copley Auditorium \nSOLD OUT\nSpeaker: Gabriele Finaldi\, Ph.D.\, Director of the National Gallery\, London \nA world-renowned expert on 17th-century Spanish art\, Finaldi studied at London’s prestigious Courtauld Institute where he wrote his dissertation on the important Spanish Baroque painter Jusepe de Ribera\, whose work is featured in the exhibition. Prior to his current appointment at the National Gallery\, Finaldi was Deputy Director for Collections and Research at the Museo Nacional del Prado\, Madrid. He has curated exhibitions in Britain\, Spain\, Italy\, Belgium and the US\, and he has written catalogues and scholarly articles on Ribera\, Velázquez\, Zurbarán\, Italian Baroque painting\, and religious iconography. Finaldi’s talk will be the closing installment of the Museum’s 2018–19 Docent-sponsored Guest Lecture Series. \nThis lecture is presented in connection with Art and Empire: The Golden Age of Spain. \nTickets to the lecture include same-day admission to the featured exhibition Art and Empire: The Golden Age of Spain. \nCapacity is limited. DESCRIPTION:Friday\, June 21\n6:00 p.m.\nMuseum Rotunda \nFree after Museum admission. \nCelebrate the summer solstice with an enchanted night of performance and poetry with the San Diego Shakespeare Society! Take a tour of the Museum’s most summery and romantic works while enjoying selections from Shakespearean plays such as A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Love’s Labours Lost. Tour begins in Museum rotunda. \nAdmission to the Museum during Art After Hours is only $5 after 5:00 p.m. on Fridays. Art After Hours is free for members\, Youth 17 & Under\, and free for College Students with ID. \n  \n  SDMA+ programs are offered by The San Diego Museum of Art in collaboration with other local arts institutions to create unique experiences and a deeper exploration of the art on view.
