Due to their recommendations of limiting nonessential gatherings and the extension of federal social distancing guidelines to April 30\, this event has been canceled.  We regret the inconvenience and appreciate your understanding of these circumstances. These textiles are an integral part of the character\, lives\, and culture of the people in rural Punjab where they are produced. One form of Phulkaris known as Sainchis is notable for whimsical depictions of animals\, birds\, and human figures. \nIn this lecture\, Dr. Cristin Sethi of the Corcoran School of the Arts and Design at George Washington University will examine a select group of Sainchi Phulkaris and offer new ways of considering these textiles given the details of their iconographical programs and individual histories. Please email saacsdma@gmail.com for registration details.\nSponsored by the South Asian Arts Council \nFree to SAAC Members / $10 Museum members /$15 nonmembers / $5 students\, military
