SUMMARY:Virtual SDMA+ Art of Elan: Abstraction and Allegory
DESCRIPTION:Tied to the thoughtful works of photographic art in Masters of Photography from the Garner Collection\, this special 15-minute multi-media performance video takes a closer look at the power of transformation. The performance features two compelling pieces of music for solo clarinet and multimedia: “Advice from a Caterpillar” by South Korean composer Unsuk Chin and “Jabberwocky” by Mexican composer Andrea González. \nThis colorful and fantastical online program\, featuring internationally acclaimed clarinetist Joshua Rubin\, will be the world premiere performance of González’s work\, which was inspired by the Lewis Carroll poem and created for Art of Elan as a companion piece for this special Virtual SDMA+ concert. \nThe Virtual SDMA+ Art of Elan: Abstraction and Allegory video premiere will be shared on Friday\, February 19 at 7:00 p.m. PT on The San Diego Museum of Art YouTube channel. \n\nThis is a part of Art of Elan’s 14th season concert series called Transformations.
