DESCRIPTION:Friday\, April 29\n8:00–10:00 a.m. \n  \nMember Benefit\n\nEnjoy early access to Art Alive\, a new major exhibition\, and a special Art Alive installation of Op Art\n\nVote for your favorite works from the Art Alive floral exhibition\nMembers get early access! Art Alive returns with a kaleidoscope of color this April 28 to May 1\, 2022. Talented floral designers will fill the galleries with fragrant arrangements inspired by the Museum collection\, offering a brilliantly colored backdrop for a weekend of beloved traditions and art-inspired activities. Enjoy early access to see nearly 100 spectacular floral arrangements interpreting works of art throughout the Museum and be among the first to see a new major exhibition and a special Art Alive installation of Op Art. \nTERRA: Fernando Casasempere\, the renowned Chilean ceramic sculptor’s first solo exhibition in the United States\, highlights the urgency of the environmental crisis through installations that utilize the Earth as both subject and medium. Using clay colored by industrial waste produced by copper mining and drilling processes\, Casasempere creates vibrant colors that vein through his sculptures. Four immersive ceramic installations created by Casasempere invite the public to meditate\, reflect\, and consider humanity’s interactions with our planet. \nMonet to Matisse: Impressionist Masterpieces from the Bemberg Foundation is also on view during Art Alive. See Impressionism masterpieces from some of the most significant names in European painting\, including Paul Cézanne\, Edgar Degas\, Claude Monet\, Berthe Morisot\, Pablo Picasso\, Alfred Sisley\, and Pierre Bonnard. Organized by the Bemberg Foundation\, based at the historic Hôtel d’Assézat in Toulouse\, France\, the exhibition features more than 60 works produced between the 1870s to 1930s. This is the first time this collection of works is on view in California\, and is one of only two showcases in the United States. \n  \nDuring the Members’ Preview\, members get to vote for their favorite interpretations in the Art Alive Floral Exhibition to select the three Members’ Choice winners. \nWe are committed to ensuring the safety and comfort of our visitors and our entire community. In addition\, hands-on art-making and interactive activities designed for children and families to do together are offered April 30–May 1 in the Garden of Activities. \n  \nWe are committed to ensuring the safety and comfort of our visitors and our entire community. In the interest of health\, safety\, and providing a positive experience for all\, Art Alive will again be a timed ticketed event. Through the creation of interactive\, performative and multi-sensory environments\, he considers boundaries of becoming (versus being) and our immersive relationship with technology.  \n“Figure-Ground” is an immersive light installation consisting of two structures that will iterate between evolving states of ambiguity and expression. This is a continuation of artist Ian Brill’s exploration of programmatic and performative gestures within custom\, architectural systems.
