SUMMARY:Bus Tour: LACMA and The Great Wall of Los Angeles by Judy Baca
DESCRIPTION:Sunday\, November 5\n7:30 a.m.–8:00 p.m. \n  \nTravel to The Great Wall of Los Angeles for a brief viewing of this half-mile-long mural by Judy Baca\, then continue on to LACMA to see two exciting exhibitions: Painting in the River of Angels\, which further explores Judy Baca’s murals\, and The World Made Wondrous. \n  \nThe Great Wall of Los Angeles \nOne of Los Angeles’s true cultural landmarks\, The Great Wall of Los Angeles in San Fernando Valley is one of the country’s most respected and largest monuments to interracial harmony. This is a half-mile-long mural depicting the history of California\, created by Chicana muralist Judy Baca and 400 youth and their families. \n  \nPainting in the River of Angels: Judy Baca and The Great Wall | LACMA \nFor the first time in her practice\, Judy Baca transforms a museum into a studio. She and artists from the Social and Public Art Resource Center expand The Great Wall of Los Angeles\, painting two sections of the mural at LACMA. Come see works from the Chicano Movement\, Watts Renaissance\, and archival materials that have never before been exhibited. \n  \nThe World Made Wondrous: The Dutch Collector’s Cabinet and the Politics of Possession | LACMA \nThe World Made Wondrous recreates a fictive 17th-century Dutch collector’s cabinet in order to examine the political and colonial histories of European collecting practices in that period. The exhibition interrogates the underlying agendas and structures that were fundamental to these collections—which are precursors to today’s European and American museums. \n  \nSave My Spot \n  \n\nSchedule\n7:00 a.m. | Arrive in Mission Bay \n7:30 a.m. | Bus picks up guests from Mission Bay (from 2688 E.
