DESCRIPTION:Saturdays\, December 16\, January 13\, February 3\, and February 10\n1:00–4:00 p.m. PT\nMay S. Marcy Sculpture Garden \n  \nJoin Museum educators for a free art-making event.\nIn celebration of SDMA’s special exhibition Korea in Color: A Legacy of Auspicious Images\, we invite artists of all ages to join us for a special Community and Family Drop-in Workshop! \nGuided by Museum educators\, participants will create a shadow box using torn and cut paper in the traditional Korean color palette and have the opportunity to paint with watercolors the ten symbols of longevity found in many of the works in the exhibition. This event is free to the community. Please join us! \nNo reservation required. All materials will be provided. \n  \nGreat for artists of all ages\, Community and Family Drop-In Workshops invite artists to enjoy hands-on art making experiences inspired by the thinking and creating processes of artists on view at the Museum. This FREE event is inspired by Korea in Color: A Legacy of Auspicious Images\, a special exhibition at the Museum on view through March 3\, 2024.

DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, December 16\, 2023\n2:00–3:00 p.m. PT\nGallery 16 \n  \n\nJoin Courtly Noyse performers for a holiday concert of lively Renaissance and Medieval music surrounded by the Museum’s collection of Renaissance and Baroque masterpieces in Art of Devotion\, upstairs in Gallery 16. \nCourtly Noyse is a six-person vocal and instrumental ensemble donning Renaissance apparel and playing replica instruments from the period. Hear the group perform a full set of classic songs and carols with traditional Renaissance instruments and soaring vocals. \nPerformance includes English Christmas carols “Nowell Sing We” and “The Boar’s Head”; traditional French Christmas carols “Noël nouvelet” and “Il Est Ne\, Le Divin Enfant”; German Christmas carol “Es ist Ein Rose”; and more. \n  \n\nFree with Museum admission. Performance date and time are subject to change. \n  \n    SDMA+ programs are offered by The San Diego Museum of Art in collaboration with other local arts institutions to create unique experiences and a deeper exploration of the art on view.
