DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, February 3\n1:00–4:00 p.m. PT \n  \nPlease note\, the Saturday\, February 3 event will now take place alongside Korea in Color: On the Steps at SDMA.\nJoin Museum educators for a free art-making event.\nIn celebration of SDMA’s special exhibition Korea in Color: A Legacy of Auspicious Images\, we invite artists of all ages to join us for a special Community and Family Drop-in Workshop! \nGuided by Museum educators\, participants will create a shadow box using torn and cut paper in the traditional Korean color palette and have the opportunity to paint with watercolors the ten symbols of longevity found in many of the works in the exhibition. This event is free to the community. Please join us! \nNo reservation required. All materials will be provided. \n  \nGreat for artists of all ages\, Community and Family Drop-In Workshops invite artists to enjoy hands-on art making experiences inspired by the thinking and creating processes of artists on view at the Museum. This FREE event is inspired by Korea in Color: A Legacy of Auspicious Images\, a special exhibition at the Museum on view through March 3\, 2024.

All registrants have been notified and registered for the rescheduled workshop.\nJoin The San Diego Museum of Art in exploring Hangeul\, the Korean alphabet\, through the lens of Lee Ungno’s abstract letter paintings. In this multigenerational workshop\, you will get the chance to familiarize yourself with the Korean alphabet and create an abstract composition through letter layering. Take this opportunity to learn something new\, try an interesting technique\, or guide your children in a fun project. \nMuseum educators will provide instructions and all the materials and information necessary to learn some Hangeul and create a composition that draws inspiration from Lee Ungno’s remarkable technique. \nThis FREE event is inspired by Korea in Color: A Legacy of Auspicious Images\, a special exhibition at the Museum on view through March 3\, 2024. \n  \nThis program is brought to you through partnership with the Korean Cultural Center of Los Angeles.
