In this multi-generational workshop\, you’ll dive into the private correspondence of artists in our collection. Take this opportunity to explore letter-writing at all levels; guide your little ones through writing a note or individually indulge in writing a long letter. With a full heart and mind\, you’ll be provided with all the materials and instruction to properly write\, personalize\, address\, and post your very own hand-written letter to a loved one. \n  \nPlease RSVP here to save your spot. Registration is limited to 15 people.

DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, July 20\n11:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m. PT\nSDMA May S. Marcy Sculpture Garden \n  \nJoin Museum educators for an art-making event in the Museum sculpture garden.\nExplore painting in the garden en plein air\, or outdoors\, just like the Impressionists. Observe landscapes and light while using contemporary materials to create your own mini masterpiece while also learning about Impressionist paintings in the Museum’s permanent collection. \nIn addition\, create a clay medallion with hand-carved Indian wood block stamps. Paint your clay disc with metallic watercolors and use colorful ribbon to make a medallion or hanging ornament. \nNo reservation required. All materials will be provided. \n  \nGreat for artists of all ages\, Community and Family Drop-In Workshops invite artists to enjoy hands-on art making experiences inspired by the thinking and creating processes of artists on view at the Museum.
