DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, November 23\n1:00–5:00 p.m. PT\nMuseum steps \n  \nEnjoy this free-to-the-community festival celebrating our special exhibition Wonders of Creation: Art\, Science\, and Innovation in the Islamic World and PST ART exhibitions throughout San Diego. Presented in partnership with Getty’s PST ART: Art & Science Collide and in collaboration with fellow PST ART Balboa Park participants Mingei International Museum and Institute of Contemporary Art\, San Diego as part of PST ART Regional Weekend: San Diego\, this will be a festival to remember. \nDelight in live performances\, a family-friendly art-making activity\, artist booths\, and much more\, all on the front steps of The San Diego Museum of Art and free to the community! \n  \nOn the Steps at SDMA Performances Program\n1:00 p.m. Welcome Remarks\n1:00 p.m. DJ David Castillo\n2:00 p.m. Middle Earth Ensemble\n3:00 p.m. Dramane Koné and Djelia Kadi\n4:00 p.m. Felukah \n  \nFeatured artists include \n\nDJ David Castillo\, hosted by ICA San Diego and complementing PST ART exhibition Nathalie Miebach: Restless Waters\, mixes industrial club music to get the festivities started!\nMiddle Earth Ensemble\, hosted by The San Diego Museum of Art and complementing PST ART exhibition Wonders of Creation\, is a San Diego-based group presenting a fusion blend of Arabic\, Persian\, Turkish\, folk\, jazz\, classical\, rock\, and improvisational music using traditional Middle Eastern musical instruments.\nDramane Koné and Djelia Kadi\, hosted by Mingei International Museum and complementing PST ART exhibition Blue Gold\, performs a harmony of West African drumming and dancing.\nFelukah\, hosted by The San Diego Museum of Art and complementing PST ART exhibition Wonders of Creation\, blends hip hop\, R&B\, and Egyptian classics effortlessly flowing between Arabic and English reflecting her multicultural identity.\n\n  \nPlus\, more to enjoy…\nIn addition to the live performances\, guests can enjoy a hands-on artmaking workshop creating a personalized birthdate star maker based on medieval astrolabes led by San Diego Museum of Art educators; community booths from partner institutions and the Persian Cultural Center; and booths featuring work by local Persian artists Yasaman Nazari and Simin Rahmankhah. All activities will be outside The San Diego Museum of Art throughout the free family-friendly festival event. \nFree admission to The San Diego Museum of Art\, including special exhibition Wonders of Creation\, from 1:00–5:00 p.m. further complements this special On the Steps at SDMA event. \n  \nThe festival is presented in partnership with Getty PST ART: Art & Science Collide\, a landmark regional event exploring the intersections of art and science\, both past and present.
