Art Alive 2024 celebrates the art of India and will feature a special installation from the Museum’s renowned Edwin Binney 3rd Collection of South Asian paintings. See the Museum rotunda transform with a beautiful floral installation by 2024 Rotunda Designer Meghaa Modi\, experience special art installations only on view during Art Alive\, and enjoy hands-on art-making and interactive activities designed for families and artists of all ages to do together in the Garden of Activities Saturday\, April 27 and Sunday\, April 28. \nPlus\, new this year\, Art Alive attendees are invited to enjoy Bollywood films by Sanjay Leela Bhansali at the MOPA@SDMA theater on Saturday\, April 27 and Sunday\, April 28. Films are included with Art Alive admission. \nSaturday\, April 27\nSaawariya (Rating PG)\nShowings at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. \nA shy musician falls for an unhappy woman who is waiting for her absent lover to return in this lush Bollywood musical inspired by Fyodor Dostoevsky’s short story “White Nights.” \nSunday\, April 28\nDevdas (Not rated)\nShowings at 11:00 a.m. and 2:15 p.m. \nA grand saga of timeless love. DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, April 27 and Sunday\, April 28\n1:00–5:00 p.m. PT\nMay S. Marcy Sculpture Garden \n  \nGreat for artists of all ages\, the Art Alive Garden of Activities brings hands-on fun to the floral extravaganza of Art Alive weekend. Join Museum educators in the floral-themed art-making space to experiment and explore through a variety of hands-on arts projects and demonstrations. \nThe 2024 Garden of Activities will again be outdoors to serve more youth and families. Experiment with a new skill by choosing to partake in individual or collaborative activities. The Garden of Activities guided projects are inspired by the art of India and the special Art Alive installation from the Museum’s renowned Edwin Binney 3rd Collection of South Asian paintings. \nSpecial to the Art Alive 2024 Garden of Activities and as part of our celebration of the art of India\, guided rangoli art making with guest instructors from DOTURMINDS (Dot Your Minds) will be a featured activity. Rangoli is an ancient Indian art form of multi-colored sand used to create floor decorations symbolizing wealth\, joy\, and prosperity\, as well as thanksgiving to deities. DOTURMINDS (Dot Your Minds) instructors will guide participants through a hands-on activity creating tabletop rangoli art using printed patterns and bottles of colored sand to create personal rangoli art. Once completed\, attendees will be asked to brush off the art and take the experience of creating the rangoli with you while learning the art of letting go. \n  \nFree with Art Alive admission.
