DESCRIPTION:Friday\, March 17\n10:00 a.m. PT\nSpeaker: Rachel Jans\, Ph.D.\, Associate Curator of Modern & Contemporary Art\, The San Diego Museum of Art\nVirtual Event \n  \nCovering more than a century of art\, ranging from German Expressionism to Surrealism\, Modern and Contemporary art traces a wide trajectory through art history. Join this talk to hear how Rachel Jans\, Ph.D.\, Associate Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art and the newest curator at The San Diego Museum of Art\, approaches the curatorial process and explores connections across cultures\, time\, space\, geographies\, and communities. As she notes\, “Contemporary artists draw on the past to challenge the present.” In this talk\, Jans will share some of her past curatorial projects from her more than 10 years of experience\, including time at The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. \nJans’ past work includes organizing numerous exhibitions\, including New Work: Nevin Aladağ\, Lineage: Paul Klee and Ruth Asawa; Rebecca Horn; and Nam June Paik: In Character\, as well as lecturing at institutions around the world including the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis and the Tate Modern\, London. \n  \nSave your spot for the online guest lecture by clicking on this link.
