SUMMARY:Screen on the Green: Goya’s Ghosts
DESCRIPTION:Thursday\, 8:00 p.m.\n\nFilm begins at sundown. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTake a trip into the art world as you sit under the stars in beautiful Balboa Park. Grab a picnic\, a blanket\, and a few friends and enjoy a selection of films whose themes take inspiration from the Museum’s permanent collection\, celebrating the recent completion of a large-scale reinstallation of these galleries. Films begin at sundown (approximately 8:00 p.m.) in the Botanical Lawn (east of the Museum.) \nThis fictional tale is loosely based on events from the life of the Spanish painter and printmaker Francisco José de Goya y Lucientes. Throughout the film\, Goya is an involuntary witness to history\, from the Inquisition to Napoleon’s invasion of Spain\, incapable of doing anything other than depicting the horrors he sees. Though Goya is a peripheral character in the film\, his work is the central focus\, with many of his well-known paintings recreated as scenes in the film. \nPanama 66’s Grab-n-Go will be open until 8:00 p.m. \n1 hour 57 minutes. Rated R for violence and some sexual content and nudity. \n\nFree\n\nImage Credit: Rotten Tomatoes
