DESCRIPTION:Friday\, August 1\, 2025\n6:00 p.m. Lecture (ticketed event)\n7:00–8:30 p.m. Private Reception\nSDMA James S. Copley Auditorium \n  \nGain unique insights into the life and work of Eduardo Chillida in a special conversation between the artist’s grandson\, Mikel Chillida\, and Rachel Jans\, Ph.D.\, Associate Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art\, The San Diego Museum of Art. \nA visionary artist\, Eduardo Chillida’s body of work is closely linked to the landscape and traditions of his Basque Country homeland in northern Spain and frequently invokes the earth\, sea\, wind\, and light\, as well as his inspirations from music\, philosophy\, and architecture. The most comprehensive survey of Chillida’s work in North America in nearly half a century\, this exhibition encompasses the full range of the artist’s practice\, including works on paper and sculptures created from forged iron\, oak\, alabaster\, and clay. The exhibition is accompanied by a full-color catalog that can be purchased at The Museum Store. \n  \nTickets for admission to the lecture only are available to general membership and the public. \nFriend-level members and above enjoy free admission to the lecture and a private reception from 7:00–8:30 p.m. inside the Museum rotunda.
