SUMMARY:Gibson Guitar Online Auction: Last Day
DESCRIPTION:Through a generous donation from the Gibson Foundation\, The San Diego Museum of Art shares for the first time the The Shepherdess Gibson Les Paul. The guitar is named after The Young Shepherdess (1885) by William Adolphe Bouguereau\, a painting which hangs in the Museum’s Upper Rotunda. Infused with the artistic vision of Chor Boogie\, a critically acclaimed spray paint artist\, and the spirit of The San Diego Museum of Art\, this guitar exemplifies what it means to bring fine art and music together. Charged with the vision of the Museum\, this treasure of rock and roll will be auctioned off for the holiday season. Proceeds from the online sale will support the mission of the Museum to “inspire\, educate\, and cultivate curiosity through great works of art.” \nThe auction is now LIVE and ends on 12/18 at 4 p.m!

SUMMARY:Irshad Khan Sitar Concert
DESCRIPTION:Join the Committee for the Arts of the Indian Subcontinent for an extraordinary sitar concert by Ustad Irshad Khan. Internationally recognized as one of the leading sitar players\, Khan is is a prominent surbahar (bass sitar) exponent of his generation. \nHailing from a lineage of Maestros\, Irshad is the son and pupil of Ustad Imrat Khan and the nephew of Ustad Vilayat Khan – both world renowned sitar players. A child prodigy\, Khan gave his first public performance at the age of seven. His national debut was at the Queen Elizabeth Hall in London\, England when he was only 13. At 18\, he made history as the youngest soloist to perform at one of the most prestigious international music festivals in London\, known as the Indian All Night Concert at the Proms.
