The Great Mysore Bhāgavata – is a recent publication by the renowned scholar Dr. B N Goswamy which is a complete study of the Mysore Manuscripts of nearly 200 illustrations. These unique water-harvesting structures—marvels of architecture\, engineering\, and art—proliferated throughout the subcontinent for over a millennium\, but eventually faded into oblivion by the 19th century. In this lecture\, Lautman will trace the fascinating history\, variety\, and current state of India’s least-known edifices. She is the author of the book The Vanishing Stepwells of India\, published in 2017.\nSponsored by the South Asian Arts Council \n
