The Great Mysore Bhāgavata – is a recent publication by the renowned scholar Dr. B N Goswamy which is a complete study of the Mysore Manuscripts of nearly 200 illustrations. Join us for a lecture/ presentation by Dr. B N Goswamy to commemorate this occasion . This event will be at The Royal India restaurant – the lecture will be followed by lunch. These textiles are an integral part of the character\, lives\, and culture of the people in rural Punjab where they are produced. One form of Phulkaris known as Sainchis is notable for whimsical depictions of animals\, birds\, and human figures.  \nIn this lecture\, Dr. Cristin Sethi of the Corcoran School of the Arts and Design at George Washington University will examine a select group of Sainchi Phulkaris and offer new ways of considering these textiles given the details of their iconographical programs and individual histories.
