SUMMARY:Qing Dynasty Ceramics: An Unprecedented Era of Colorful Glaze Innovations
DESCRIPTION:Speaker Allie Arnell\, Museum Docent\, Independent Scholar\, and Consultant\n \nStep into the unprecedented Qing Dynasty era of colorful glaze innovations with Allie Arnell\, Museum docent. \nThe Qing Dynasty (1644-1912) in China was a time of great change and innovation\, especially in the field of ceramics. The war and instability that led to the rise of the Manchu rulers of this dynasty left the great imperial kilns in shambles. Several early rulers of the Qing dynasty reinvigorated the ceramic industry. These rulers celebrated both the colorful glazes of several great moments of Chinese ceramic history and fresh approaches to color and glaze technique. Additionally\, several changes to the structure of the industry allowed innovations to flourish at this time. The result was an elegant array of colorful vessels that are still celebrated today. \nPlease register by clicking on this link. All participants will be sent the Zoom link and instructions via email once registration is complete. Space is limited. \nSponsored by the Asian Arts Council.
