But few people are aware of their lengthy\, transformative journey to India in 1958 at the request of Jawaharlal Nehru\, who sought their advice on creating a national institute of design. The Eameses’ initial excursion took them to all corners of the country and resulted in thousands of photographs as they contemplated industries\, crafts\, architecture\, and traditions before hammering out “The India Report\,” which continues to resonate today. \nJoin us and Victoria Lautman\, a cultural journalist-at-large with three decades of experience across all media\, to explore how these iconic American designers’ time in India kick-started the country’s most prestigious design school and left a lasting impact. \n  \nPlease reserve your spot by clicking on this link. DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, December 16\, 2023\n2:00–3:00 p.m. PT\nGallery 16 \n  \n\nJoin Courtly Noyse performers for a holiday concert of lively Renaissance and Medieval music surrounded by the Museum’s collection of Renaissance and Baroque masterpieces in Art of Devotion\, upstairs in Gallery 16. \nCourtly Noyse is a six-person vocal and instrumental ensemble donning Renaissance apparel and playing replica instruments from the period. Hear the group perform a full set of classic songs and carols with traditional Renaissance instruments and soaring vocals. \nPerformance includes English Christmas carols “Nowell Sing We” and “The Boar’s Head”; traditional French Christmas carols “Noël nouvelet” and “Il Est Ne\, Le Divin Enfant”; German Christmas carol “Es ist Ein Rose”; and more. \n  \n\nFree with Museum admission. Performance date and time are subject to change. \n  \n    SDMA+ programs are offered by The San Diego Museum of Art in collaboration with other local arts institutions to create unique experiences and a deeper exploration of the art on view.
