Discover the Museum through fun, educational activities for kids, teens, and families! For everyone from beginners to art experts, programs offer diverse opportunities for the whole family to view, understand, and interact with art on view.

Family Drop-In Days

Select Sundays* | 1:00–3:00 p.m. | Lower Rotunda

Explore and learn more about art on view through activities designed for families to enjoy together. Activities present projects using a variety of media and inspired by the works on view in the galleries.

Participate in art-making activities in the Lower Rotunda, join a family-oriented docent tour, play gallery games, interact with touchable objects, and complete Search and Find activities.

Recommended for families with children 6 to 12 years. Pre-registration is not required.

Free Museum Admission for Youth

One of the Museum’s primary goals is to make art accessible to the entire community. Starting in July 2016, the Museum began offering free admission to everyone 17 and under. We believe that eliminating the financial barrier to entry for youth is a great step in meeting this very important goal! This program is generously sponsored by:


Family Workshops

Families are invited to participate together in art-making workshops at the Museum Art School. Preceded by a special before-hours tour of current exhibitions, workshops are geared toward
intergenerational learning and creating in a classroom setting.

Teen Art Café

Meet and mingle with fellow teen artists as you learn about works of art on view. Teen Art Café invites students to participate in art projects led by Museum educators and artists, enjoy
special performances, and go on an exclusive after-hours tour through the Museum. Light refreshments and opportunities to win prizes included. Topics and activities are different each

Search and Find

Roam and view the Museum galleries in new ways using the Search and Find activity sheets. Grab a Museum map and use your sleuthing skills to follow clues and discover works of art in the galleries. Participants are encouraged to return the completed Search and Find sheet to the front desk for a prize! Search and Finds are available in English and Spanish.

ARTie Activity Book

Enjoy a friendly introduction to the Museum’s collection guided by ARTie, the Museum’s Family Programs Mascot. This FREE multipage Activity Book includes Museum-designed games, puzzles, and coloring activities, offered in English and Spanish, presented for families to learn from together.
