Description

Edgar Degas was a master of drawing the human figure in motion. He is best known for his paintings, drawings, and bronzes of ballerinas and of racehorses.

Ballet dancers were among Degas’s favorite themes. His paintings often show complex combinations of dancers in movement and at rest. To arrive at these scenes, he sketched from live models in his studio. This bookmark is inspired by one of those sketches.
