Teen Summer Studios

Designed for teens grades 6–12, Teen Summer Studios are led by artists and expert art educators and include multiple projects and visits to the Museum to view summer exhibitions. View the schedule, program packet, and registration information below, and complete the registration form.

July 24 – 28

Expanding Your Portfolio I (Grades 9–12)
Take your artwork in new directions, meet other teen artists, and create a portfolio for submission to fine arts colleges. Visit the galleries to see master works and discover new art forms. Receive expert guidance to develop your portfolio.

Express Yourself Through Printmaking (Grades 6–8)
Express yourself through printmaking using a variety of techniques. Explore the galleries while learning about master printmakers. Design your own personal t-shirt and create a collaborative 2017 Summer Camp t-shirt for each student.

July 31 – August 4

Expanding Your Portfolio II (Grades 9–12)
Take your artwork to the next level! Meet other teen artists and expand your portfolio for submission to fine arts colleges. Explore new art forms, visit the galleries to see master works, and receive expert guidance in the development of your portfolio.

Reinterpreting the Traditional Still Life (Grades 6–8)
Express your creativity through traditional and non-traditional still lifes. Visit the Museum galleries and view still lifes in the Art of the 20th Century and European art galleries.

$275 Members / $315 Nonmembers

Please read the following documents regarding Teen Summer Studio and Summer Camp policies and procedures, and return all forms completed to the Museum prior to the first day of the program.

Summer Youth Programs 2017 Scholarships
Complete and mail in the 2017 Summer Youth Art Programs Scholarship Application along with a completed registration form to apply for a full or partial scholarship.


Please fill out all registration information completely. A current email or mailing address is required to receive registration confirmations and information packet. Payment must be made in the form of credit card of check payable to The San Diego Museum of Art.

You may register online, at the admissions desk during open hours, or by submitting a registration form along with payment in the following ways:

Your teen will NOT be registered for programs until payment is received in full.

Cancellation Policy

You must cancel at least two weeks prior to the first day of your child’s camp/studio to receive a 100% refund. Cancellations less than two weeks prior to the first day of your child’s camp/studio will be refunded at 50% of the fee paid. After the first day of your child’s camp/studio, no refunds will be issued for any reason.
