Teen Summer Studios 2019

Designed for teens grades 6–12, Teen Summer Studios are led by artists and expert art educators and include multiple projects and visits to the Museum to view summer exhibitions. View the schedule, program packet, and registration information below, and complete the registration form.

August 5–9, 2019

Expanding Your Portfolio (Grades 9–12)

Take your artwork in new directions by meeting with other teen artists and creating a portfolio for submission to fine arts colleges. View masterworks from around the world in the Museum and discover new art forms while receiving expert guidance on how to develop and expand your portfolio.

Making Multiples: Exploring Printmaking (Grades 6–8)

Discover ways to produce art in multiples by exploring a variety of printmaking techniques. Explore the galleries while learning about master printmakers. Design and print your own personal t-shirt.

August 12–16, 2019

Travel through the Museum: Spain and Beyond (Grades 9–12)

Travel back in time to discover works of art from all over Europe. Visit Art and Empire: The Golden Age of Spain and the European galleries and learn about innovative techniques used by the old masters, from Velázquez to Zurbarán while creating your own masterpieces of painting, sculpture, decorative arts, and more.


Beyond the Paintbrush: Painting Techniques and More (Grades 6–8)

Explore traditional and contemporary painting techniques through a variety of art processes, from realistic landscapes to abstract portraits. Explore the Museum galleries while sketching masterworks and get your creativity flowing pleinair painting in the Park.

To receive all discounts, registration must be processed through the mail or over the phone. Please print and mail in the registration form or call 619.696.1935 to confirm registration.


Scholarships

The San Diego Museum of Art is happy to announce that a limited number of full and partial scholarships have been awarded this year for the Summer Youth Art Programs. Please check back next year for more scholarship opportunities.


After Registration:

Please read the following documents regarding Teen Summer Studio and Summer Camp policies and procedures, and return all forms completed to the Museum prior to the first day of the program.


Cancellation Policy

You must cancel at least two weeks prior to the first day of your child’s camp/studio to receive a 100% refund. Cancellations less than two weeks prior to the first day of your child’s camp/studio will be refunded at 50% of the fee paid. After the first day of your child’s camp/studio, no refunds will be issued for any reason.
