Virtual Teen Summer Studios 2021

Designed for teens grades 6–12, Virtual Teen Summer Studios are led by artists and expert art educators and include multiple projects and virtual visits to the Museum to view exhibitions. August 2–6, 2021

Expanding Your Portfolio (Grades 9–12) 

Take your artwork in new directions by meeting with other teen artists and creating a portfolio for all art levels. View masterworks from around the world and discover new art forms while receiving expert guidance on how to develop and expand your portfolio.

Virtually Travel through the Museum (Grades 6–8)

Travel back in time to discover works of art from all over the world. Virtually visit the Museum galleries to learn about innovative techniques used by master artists, from O’Keeffe to Rivera, while creating your own still lifes, portraits, and landscapes.

August 9–13, 2021

Sketching to Painting (Grades 9–12)

Discover ways to produce art by exploring a variety of techniques from sketches to contemporary paintings. Virtually explore the Museum galleries while sketching masterworks and get your creativity flowing with plein-air painting.

Drawing Exploration (Grades 6–8)

Explore traditional drawing techniques while learning about art, from sketching to etchings. Virtually discover works of art in the Museum galleries and play art games with new friends.

The San Diego Museum of Art is pleased to have awarded multiple full scholarships for the 2021 Virtual Summer Youth Art Programs. We look forward to offering additional scholarship opportunities for the 2022 Summer Youth Art Programs, details for which will be available Spring 2022.

After Registration:

Please read the following documents regarding Summer Camp and Teen Summer Studio policies and procedures, and return all completed forms to the Museum prior to the first day of the program.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations prior to or on the Friday before your child’s camp/studio begins will receive a 100% refund. After the first day of your child’s camp/studio, no refunds will be issued for any reason.
