Virtual Teen Summer Studios 2020

Designed for teens grades 6–12, Virtual Teen Summer Studios are led by artists and expert art educators and include multiple projects and virtual visits to the Museum to view exhibitions. July 27–31, 2020

Expanding Your Portfolio (Grades 9–12) 

Take your artwork in new directions by meeting with other teen artists and creating a portfolio for all art levels. View masterworks from around the world and discover new art forms while receiving expert guidance on how to develop and expand your portfolio.

Making Multiples: Exploring Printmaking and More (Grades 6–8)

Discover ways to produce art in multiples by exploring a variety of techniques from relief printing to screen printing. Virtually explore the galleries while learning about print works and photography. Design and print your own unique artist signature stamp.

August 3–7, 2020

Travel through the Museum: Rembrandt and Beyond (Grades 9–12)

Travel back in time to discover works of art from all over Europe. Virtually visit the Museum’s European galleries to learn about innovative techniques used by the old masters, from Rembrandt to Velázquez, while creating your own still lifes, portraits, and landscapes.

From Canvas to Clay: Art Exploration Lab (Grades 6–8)

Explore traditional and contemporary painting, printmaking, and homemade air-dry clay techniques through a variety of art processes while learning about art. Virtually explore the Museum galleries while sketching masterworks and get your creativity flowing plein-air painting.

*Please note: Instructors will provide a list of suggested supplies to parents and guardians two weeks prior to their registered student’s camp or studio start date.

The San Diego Museum of Art is happy to announce that a limited number of full scholarships are available for the Summer Youth Art Programs. Scholarship applications are available in both English and Spanish.

*To be fair to all scholarship applicants, only two scholarships may be award per family.

Summer Youth Art Programs are supported by Margie Mopper and the members of the San Diego Museum of Art.

After Registration:

Please read the following documents regarding Summer Camp and Teen Summer Studio policies and procedures, and return all forms completed to the Museum prior to the first day of the program.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations prior to or on the Friday before your child’s camp/studio begins will receive a 100% refund. After the first day of your child’s camp/studio, no refunds will be issued for any reason.
