Museum Suite exhibition ID

As part of The San Diego Museum of Art’s centennial celebrations, the Community Engagement department is proud to present Museum Suite, a unique exhibition exploring the interplay of dance and visual art. Presented in nine movements, the exhibition invites visitors into a space where performance and photography engage with the Museum’s masterworks, creating a dynamic conversation between past and present, motion and stillness.

In collaboration with dancers from San Diego’s diverse dance community, Museum docent and professional photographer Douglas McMinimy reinterprets, animates, and reflects significant works from the Museum’s collection, demonstrating how art inspires movement, and movement, in turn, inspires new art.

Through this interplay of art forms, the exhibition transforms the gallery into a stage—animated by the forms of dancers and alive with interpretation and appreciation of the Museum’s collection. Museum Suite is a vibrant celebration of the Museum, the local dance community, and the creative power of both visual and performative arts.
