What is a surcharged exhibition?

Due to the staff and logistics necessary for these installations, there is an additional charge ($3) for nonmembers. The ticket price includes access to all areas of the museum.

Do Museum Members get into the exhibition for free?

Yes. Admission to this exhibition is included in your membership.

Why is one of the installations, The Birth of Breakdown Clown, on a first-come, first-served basis?

The Birth of Breakdown Clown, is an interactive performance with limited audience capacity, thus entry is on a first-come, first-served basis. There will be a queue outside of the installation in the gallery. Performances take place every hour on the half hour.

Can children enter the exhibition?

Yes, however, the exhibition explores challenging subjects like international terrorism and abuse of power. Some may find the imagery disturbing. Parental guidance is recommended.

Is there a $3 charge for children for the exhibition even though SDMA offers the daily discount of free general admission for youth 17 & under?

Yes, there will be a $3 admission fee for youths ages 7-17. Only children 6 and under receive free admission to the exhibition.

Will the exhibition be free on Resident Free Tuesdays?

No, the $3 surcharge will still apply for nonmembers.

Will the exhibition be open during December Nights (December 7 & 8)?

No, the exhibition will be closed during December Nights and will reopen Sunday, December 9.

Is photography allowed?

Yes except for the Mother the Air is Blue the Air is Dangerous installation.
