Be part of the Art of Reading Book Club, where art, literature, and art history converge.
Join fellow SDMA members and book lovers as we enjoy discussing The Upside-Down World: Meetings with the Dutch Masters by Banjamin Moser. At twenty-five, author Benjamin Moser arrived in a Dutch town and became captivated by the country’s great museums, finding in the lives and works of artists like Rembrandt and Vermeer a mirror to his own questions about art, success, and failure. The Upside-Down World is both a rich exploration of Holland’s Golden Age and an intimate self-portrait, twenty years in the making.
Coffee and light snacks will be served. The book club will be followed by a docent-led tour of art works relating to the book, including highlights of the newly opened Dutch Painting: Special Loans from the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
