Michael Brown, the Museum’s Curator of European Art, discusses the exhibition Bouguereau and America, on view at the Museum beginning November 9. Adored for his idealized images, then ostracized as the arts gave way to 20th century modernism, William-Adolphe Bouguereau (1825–1905) is reexamined from a new perspective in this exhibition.
